Rethinking Game Controllers in Augmented Reality – No Touching!

Game Happens 2019 – Conference
Saturday 9 November, Afternoon Tech Sessions

One of the biggest constraints with Mobile AR is that it’s really hard to use touch on the screen as a Control when you’re using the same screen as your View. In this talk, we will share demos and prototypes of crazy new game controls that we created for our AR games, some gotchas unique to AR, and finally how to reach a sweet spot between possibilities and constraints for your games. Some game controls that we will discuss: World position; Face tilt; Face expressions; Hand gestures.
